Week 6

So it makes me giggle because two of our contestants are exactly the same weight. It will be interesting to see who can lose the most by next week!

Also, just for an update I have calculated the 2 teams weight-loss percentage so far to let us all know how the teams are doing and also to motivate everyone. HERE GOES....
The boy's team weight-loss percentage is 3.15%

The girl's team weight-loss percentage is 6.79%

Week 4

So first I would like to congratulate all of the winners of the challenge! To see who they are go and look at who premade meals for their week and then left a comment.
One of the the contestants mentioned mistakenly thinking that he/she had immunity this week and may have bulked up to "throw" the weigh-in. grin.
So maybe week 2 wasn't the hardest and week 4 was? If you find yourself struggling, tell us about it. We can strengthen each other!

Challenge

The First Challenge is a simple one.
Everybody can win it.
For the challenge you are asked to prepare some healthy meals/snacks for the next week and leave a comment about what you did, how many you did, and how you did it. You will win some of my favorite snack choices. Oh, and guys, if your wifey does the meals...it won't count. You have to do it or help in a LARGE way. You know who you are ;)
PRIZES will include a few of these yummy snacksNot sure why there are 2 of the ice cream cups, maybe because they are sooo yummy. The mint ones are really scrumptious! Costco has a 94% fat free popcorn that my family likes the best.
I have found that when I replace my unhealthy snacks then I don't feel "ripped-off" or starved to death. Anyway, pack some meals & snacks, be ready for your week.
Tell me what you did and I will get your prizes to you!
Don't forget to send me your weight on Tuesday.

Week 3

So 3 of you reported your weight late (not entirely your fault) and 3 of you subtracted 100 pounds from your weight when you reported. I thought this was AWESOME!!! I think it shows positive thinking and pride in a job well done. Some of you have hit some hurdles. Some have had some bad weeks and had to start over. No one has been the only one though. There isn't one way for everyone and you have a busy life. The important thing to keep in mind is that it IS worth it and you HAVE to find a way to make time. That may mean preparing meals or implementing exercise.
When we make these changes we will set a positive example for our families as well. Our kids will see us choosing to eat/drink healthier and mimic that. They will see that exercise is important and they will see the loving example of parents encouraging each other and sticking to it!

Weight Watchers 0 point soup

Zero POINTS®-Value Vegetable Soup
soups

POINTS® Value: 0
Servings: 12
Preparation Time: 35 min
Cooking Time: 13 min
Level of Difficulty: Easy

Some say that this soup is the secret to their weight-loss success. It's a great midday snack or premeal hunger-buster.

Ingredients

2 medium garlic clove(s), minced
1 medium onion(s), diced
2 medium carrot(s), diced
1 medium sweet red pepper(s), diced
1 medium stalk(s) celery, diced
2 small zucchini, diced
2 cup(s) green cabbage, shredded
2 cup(s) Swiss chard, chopped
2 cup(s) cauliflower, small florets
2 cup(s) broccoli, small florets
2 tsp thyme, fresh, chopped
6 cup(s) vegetable broth
2 Tbsp parsley, or chives, fresh, chopped
1/2 tsp table salt, or to taste
1/4 tsp black pepper, or to taste
2 Tbsp fresh lemon juice, optional

Instructions
Put garlic, vegetables, thyme and broth into a large soup pot. Cover and bring to a boil over high heat; reduce heat to low and simmer, partly covered, about 10 minutes.

Stir in parsley or chives; season to taste with salt, pepper and lemon juice. Yields about 1 cup per serving.
Notes
If you like thick soups, consider pureeing this recipe in the pot with an immersion blender.

There are so many variations on this recipe. Add or leave out vegetables to suit your taste.

Save time by using frozen vegetables instead of fresh ones (though the texture of the soup might change a bit). You can also buy small amounts of pre-cut vegetables from your super market's salad bar.

Don't pass the sink without taking a drink

Remember to Hydrate your body! Especially when you are working out.
If you need a kick start on your work-out, remember any movement that you didn't do last week is going to be good for you. Dad's (& moms) could take one kids per day on a PPI walk. Good for you and good for them. Stay-at-home moms can use the stairs at home- and hey, strap that baby on for extra weight. Turn the music on and rock-out with the kids, they will think you have lost your mind, but they will love it!
The library has lots of work-out DVD's. Also consider letting people around you know what you are trying to do. Your family, friends, and neighbors can really be a great support to you & may even have some execise equipment, DVD's you could use or you could start a walking group in your area. You are making a positive change in your life!
